SalonTech SpinStyle Pro vs. CHI Lava Spin N Curl

We tried two of the most popular spinning curling irons on the market to find out which one is the better.

I’m sure you have seen spinning curling hair irons all over social media. You also probably thought it was such a gimmick. That’s what I thought too. So, I decided that I would try some out for myself to see if it ACTUALLY works. The two I’ve tried out are the Salon Tech SpinStyle Pro Auto Curler and the CHI Lava Spin N Curl

Here are some of the feature comparisons:

After trying both for a week each, I can confidently tell you that they are NOT gimmicks at all. They work! They are easy to use and don’t cause as much damage as a traditional curling wand. So, which one did I like more? The Salon Tech SpinStyle Pro Auto Curler. My reasoning is, it was way easier to use, took a lot less time, and gave me more natural, beachy waves. I used the 1” barrel, but there are 2 other sizes, which I think is great. I timed myself on the 7th day of use and the Salon Tech took about 8 minutes and 45 seconds, whereas the Chi took about 14 minutes and 30 seconds. The Chi took almost twice as long! The no-touch spinning dial is what really saved time, in my opinion. You can literally place your wand next to your head, just enough to grab some hair and let it do its thing. The Chi curler required sectioning off small portions of hair, which got a bit tedious and time consuming. With all that said, CHI Lava Spin N Curl is not a bad product. It saved a lot of time compared to my regular hair routine with a regular iron. Its functionalities were all great and looks like a futuristic laser shooter.

All in all, both are a great replacement for you traditional curling iron. If you want natural curls in the shortest amount of time, go with the Salon Tech SpinStyle Pro Auto Curler. If you are a morning-person and can take the extra minutes to do your hair, the CHI Lava Spin N Curl is not a bad option, either.
